Sing4Pleasure - Showstoppers from the Westend to Broadway
Thankyou Claire & John for a great day at the workshop on Saturday 17th August 2013 and also for all your hard work.  We really enjoyed all of the music and songs and as always we had so much fun learning them - time just seemed to fly by.  Again it was lovely to see our friends from your group in Swadlincote - everyone seems to gel together so well.  We loved all of the solos - everyone did so well and what great sounds.  We think you are "Simply the Best" Claire and we are looking forward to the next workshop.  Thankyou once again. Love Rhona & Marj

Sing for pleasure workshop held at St Peters church hall on Saturday was brill.  Many thanks to Claire and John for organising the event and to the Birmingham Sing for pleasure group for hosting this workshop for the second year running. We all took food and shared everything, including the company and music.  It was lovely to hear friends sharing their music and singing in a wonderful atmosphere.  Really looking forward to starting back at Oaklands middle of September to learn more songs and hopefully lots of people will join our friendly and welcoming group.

Had a great day yesterday at workshop.  You put so much energy into it, really varied what we sang, kept it up beat throughout.  The harmonies, again, created a lovely sound in a very short time.  Having not sung for about 10years I am soooooo  glad I joined last year and have been genuinely impressed with the progress so many soloists have made - me next, me next???? We`ll see, but it is credit to the group that I can even think about it, so encouraging is each and every one of them.  The performances and gigs we have done are also great fun and I look forward to them.  Many thanks

Thankyou to Claire and John for all your hard work into making the day great.  First time for me at the workshop great group of people who encourage and support each other.  Chris  17th Aug 2013

We arrived at the car park by the side of the Anchor in Newall and waited for Claire and John to arrive so they could show us the way to our destination in Birmingham. We then, in convoy, drove into the outskirts of Birmingham to the hall where we were going to have our singing workshop. Claire, our singing teacher, had  chosen the theme of songs from films and we were looking forward to the days events. We were meet by Claire's other students from her Birmingham group to perform a day of learning new songs and hearing others perform their solos. Everyone brought a contribution of food and very soon the tables were full of sandwiches, salad, nibbles, fruit, cheese, scones, home made jam, cream and various puddings, together with copious cups of coffee and tea,  all waiting for us to eat and drink in between the sessions. With the chairs assembled in a semi circle facing Claire standing behind her portable piano plus other technical things she needed for the day, we started off the singing by warming up. Claire always starts any session with vocal warm ups before we sing, so important to stretch the vocal chords. After the usual banter between us all ceased we then started the day of singing. We performed a few rounds of 3 part singing to get us in the mood, they went down very well I thought. The first song raised a cheer from the altos when we learnt that we would actually be singing the  main tune instead of the harmony. We learnt the main tunes and harmonies to 4 songs:  I'm a Believer,  New York New York, Love Hurts, and Good Vibrations. 8 members of the Sing4Pleasure group performed solos in between the main songs, giving them all the chance to sing in front of a friendly audience. We all enjoyed ourselves and went home tired but very happy.
A round of applause for Claire and John for all their hard work to get the group and workshops off the ground
The main idea of the group Sing4Pleasure is for people to enjoy themselves and learn to sing at the same time. Claire is very interested in teaching new people and welcomes everyone to come along and join in when we have our local group.
The group is held at Oaklands (just off Church Street, Swadlincote).
The time table is 19.00-21.00 Wednesday matching the local school term.
Our starting date is 16th September
Each 2 hour session is £5.50

Just back from today's workshop.  Claire what an amazing job you do with us, new songs learned in such a short space of time.  Complete with harmonies - sounding good and all the time making it so much fun.  I was a newbie to the group this time last year....and so very nervous.  What a difference a year can make and what a difference it has made to the others in the groups too!!  Fantastic to hear old and new voices singing solo - and doing it so well.  I can't wait for this group to re-start and look forward to an equally enjoyable workshop the next time (soon, please?).  Thank you for bringing music back into my life, for the confidence you have helped me gain and for putting a smile back on my face.  Cheers Sue T

Any ability, any age
I just wanted to say thank you for the great day you and John put on yesterday.
It was good getting together with old friends and making some new ones too. The songs were interesting and challenging at times but the element of fun was always there
 Thank you again.
Regards  Diane

Hi Claire,
I thought the whole workshop was wonderful.
To be part of that was something so emotional was beyond all my expectations.
I look forward to many more of your workshops.
Your presentation is brilliant.
